CORTLANDT HOUSE, FURZE HILL

Hidden from view, and in the garden of Furze Hill House, was Cortlandt House seen in this photograph of 20 April 1960. It was empty, awaiting demolition. Parts of the ground floor were used as stables. The name of the house was taken from the Angelo family, a Miss Cortlandt-Angelo being one of the last occupants of Furze Hill House.
