EAST HOVE

The entrance to Cambridge Grove from Wilbury Road, on 8 April 1931. This narrow mews was built in the 1880’s at the same time as Cromwell Road. It was then used as stabling with servants living quarters above and now largely consists of garages. The large house at the rear, Oxford House in Wilbury Road was occupied from the start by Frederic W Giebeler, blind manufacturer, later F W Giebeler (Hove) Ltd. who remained there until the early 1950’s, nearly 70 years. There is little change to this view today.
