BLATCHINGTON ROAD

This solemn scene in Blatchington Road in July 1907, needs no explanation. The facades of the buildings on the north side seem unchanged today, except for modern shop fronts, and Woolworths has replaced the distant corner building. At the left note the newsagent shop and, next door, the shoe shop. Now in 1985, 78 years on, they are still the same, newsagents and shoes, though in different ownerships.
