THE BRIGHTON BY-PASS

A press aerial photograph of June 1990, showing early work on the Brighton By-pass which had started in the previous summer. In the built up area can be seen Dyke Road Avenue, Woodland Drive, King George V1 Avenue, and houses being built on Cooks Estate. In the midst of all this, the trees and shrubs of the Three-Cornered Copse. Woodland Court flats can clearly be seen as can the Reservoir, then unbuilt on. In the foreground, Devil’s Dyke Road unaltered making straight for the Dyke. The remains of the railings, seen following were concealed in the shrubs and trees in the Copse, above.
