STATION ROAD, PRESTON

At the time when these photographs were taken, on 9 February 1975 Preston Park Station was undergoing change, from a Victorian structure of charm to its present bare appearance. Since then the temporary huts and part of the wooden railings have gone. Houses and garages have been built along the west side of Station Road, there has been some further development on the opposite side and many of the splendid trees fell victim to the storm of October 1987. Most of the visible changes have been to the foreground area, but beyond the lorry the lane leading to Withdean Stadium is little changed, apart from the loss of some trees. Another view.
