FAIRLIE PLACE, SURRENDEN ROAD

In 1906 a very large private mansion was built on the northern outskirts of Brighton on the west side of tree lined Surrenden Road. It was built for Mr Emile Moreau and stood in extensive grounds, which sloped down towards Preston Road. It remained in his family until almost the beginning of the last war and was still a private dwelling up to about 1954/55, after which it became a business training school called Fairlie Place College.
