ROCK PLACE

This is a copy of a very old, faded and damaged photograph, which accounts for its poor reproduction. It shows the forge and living quarters of J. Goble, Shoeing Smith, period about 1900. This is a very old street, of the same age as New Steine, and at first consisted of stables and coachmen’s rooms. Until about 1860 it was named Rock Mews. The particular premises were for many years used by a coachbuilder until Mr Goble took possession in 1897.
