CHARLES STREET

Meanwhile, houses on the opposite side of the street were deteriorating. This photograph of 9 February 1975 shows the boarded-up and dilapidated condition of 2,3 and 4 Charles Street. In this case a private developer bought them and beautifully reconstructed the old houses, which now have a long life ahead of them. However, the corner shop has been removed and the site is empty.
