FRESHFIELD ROAD

These two houses, which faced south at right angles to the road were built about 1870 and were first known as 5 & 6 Park Road East. For many years laundresses, the laundries adjoining the houses, occupied them. Soon after the date of the photograph, 4 June 1961, the houses were demolished and the huge Southdown offices are now here.
