THE SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND, EASTERN ROAD.

A Venetian Gothic building designed by Somers Clarke, in 1860-61. Called, initially, the Asylum for the Blind, it was for poor children between the age of eight and sixteen and was supported by charitable subscriptions. Photographed 4 July 1958 and demolished soon afterwards.
