These are copies of two very old Daguerrotypes taken about 1845 by William Constable. He was Brighton’s first photographer who set up his studio at 57, Marine Parade in 1841. The gentleman appearing in the photograph in the photograph is Richard Dykes Alexander, an eminent businessman and Quaker from Ipswich, seen with his wife and another lady. This information comes from Mr Philippe Garner.
