WIDENING OF EDWARD STREET

This has been a long drawn out affair. It could be said to have started with the demolition of 1 and 2, Pavilion Parade, as long ago as 1927. It continued at intervals until the war but then there was a long delay until the 1960s.
The last of the Great Globe Inn, February 1965. With its removal and that of the Citadel, the street can be widened as far as Egremont Place.
