GEORGE STREET GARDENS

BASTICK COTTAGES. At the top of George Street Gardens, near to Carlton Hill stood two cottages, named after Mr Bastick, the builder. They faced each other with the tree in between, and were at right angles to the other houses in the next photograph. To the east was the narrow Riding School Lane, seen here on the left. In 1948, the cottage which faced south was removed but the other still remains.
