Old houses, 29-32 William Street, on the west side, looking to the flint cottages in Carlton Hill. They were removed in 1937, so the photograph was of about that period. Note the building above the archway with the head of Queen Victoria.
This was the Victoria Model lodging house with the sign "Good accomodation for Travellers".
