WEST BRIGHTON

A very clear view looking down Victoria Street to the Roman Catholic Church in Upper North Street. The year is unknown, but the photograph almost certainly dates from the 1870s. It is a copy, enlarged from a small stereoscopic print very popular at that period. Victoria Street seems little changed today more than a century later, apart from the roadway, pavement and lamp post.
