BRIGHTON BEACH IN THE 1880s

“Pitch and Toss” on the Lower promenade, with a marbles enthusiast beyond. Note the contrast between the old brickwork of the arches and the new bricks supporting the iron and teak railings fitted in 1886. This part of the beach has hardly altered in the past 70 years.
