69, GRAND PARADE

About 1937 this house suffered horrible mutilation by having its lower part removed just to give access to the bus garage at the rear, off Edward Street. Grand Parade has seen many changes for the worse during its long life, but surely this must have been the crowning indignity! The building remained in this sorry state for about 50 years before its front was restored with balcony and verandah. 8 August 1991, restored.
