FALMER BEFORE THE WIDENING OF THE A.27

When the proposed widening was publicised, I had these eight photographs taken on 8 April 1973. They provide a record of what Falmer looked like before its spoliation. The buildings seen were all on the south-east side of the even then busy Lewes - Brighton Road. The filling station and adjoining houses were on the Lewes side of the road to Woodingdean, while the others stood just on the brow of the hill.
