FIRCROFT

Here was a multitude of fruit trees trained over and supported by stout wires. One can only speculate upon what a shady bower this must have been in high summer during the days when the house was occupied and the gardens carefully tended. The appearance on 10 November 1969, needs no further comment. The arbour was in the central part of the extensive rear garden, about 50 yards from the house and screened from the east by the high wall.
