THE CHATTRI, PATCHAM

After the war this Indian Chattri was erected on the site to commemorate the wartime cremations. Three blocks of granite indicate and cover the concrete slabs on which the actual cremations took place. These photographs were obviously taken soon after 1921 but no certain dates are known. There was a cottage for the custodian nearby but this had been given up and demolished by 1939.
