MARINE PARADE

Copies of two old, but fairly clear, photographs of the eastern marine frontage. This photograph, obviously taken from the Chain Pier, almost certainly dates from 1872, because the Pier Esplanade has gone and the new low sea wall, built in 1871 is there. There are indications that the Aquarium was being built and this was opened later in 1872. The two lateral streets seen here are Camelford Street and Margaret Street.
