MADEIRA ROAD FROM MARINE PARADE

This was taken in the summer of 1939, when war was already trembling on the horizon. The scene is not much changed today apart from the area south of the road, where Peter Pan’s playground has replaced the huts, bandstand and bowling greens. We are now threatened with a heliport on this site!
