SHIP STREET

Identifying the buildings seen in this photograph of the early 1860’s proved to be far from easy. Eventually the name “Pocock” on the fascia of the centre window provided the clue. The photographer was standing on the redbrick pavement outside the Old Ship Hotel, looking to the west. These buildings were completely reconstructed later in the century.
