DEMOLITION OF TITHE BARN, HOVE

With the widening of Church Road, the barn had to be removed. Some years earlier, Lewers Terrace (now 188-214 Church Road) had been built, and the site was needed for the building of the present Hove Library. This photograph, looking south shows an expansive chimney, the size of which suggests that it might have been the chimney of the old smithy.
