An unusual view of this area when development was just starting and drainage was being installed.
In the photograph above the view is just below the crossing of New Church Road, showing St Phillips Church, Richardson Road, Aldrington National Schools and, in the distance, the trees of the present Holmes Avenue. Jutting out behind the church are the garages of Lion Mews while at the extreme left can be seen the backs of houses at the corner of Langdale Gardens, the present numbers 86 and 88 New Church Road.
