NINETEENTH CENTURY PRESTON

Looking westwards from present Preston Road towards the Dyke Road. To the left can be seen the houses in Hamilton Road and Stanford Road with the spire of St Luke’s Church, Prestonville, behind them. The lone house by the footpath is Highlands, Stanford Road, then occupied by Daniel Friend, who built the Prestonville estate. The windmill is Port Hall Mill, which stood 200 yards in the rear of the house Port Hall. It was removed in 1887
