LONDON,BRIGHTON AND SOUTH COAST RAILWAY

A view of Preston Park Station and the footway – period unknown but said to be not later than 1896. The station nameboard was changed about 1898 and the advertisement hoardings above the footplate date from 1909. Note the footbrige beyond the signal box. This led from the Station Road into the old Tivoli Gardens but was disused for many years. Doubt exists as to when it was removed – railway records are uncertain but suggest 1923.
