HOLLINGBURY

Looking down Portfield Avenue to the newly built, and still building, Hollingbury Council Estate. This is the first post-war large scale building scheme undertaken by Brighton Council and it occupied about two years in its construction. At the left, between the two houses, can be seen the new Carden School. The year of the photograph would be 1948 or 1949.
