SURRENDEN ROAD

The west side of the road between Harrington Road and Varndean Road, in 1912. The first house on the left is the present No.45. Strange as it seems the Patcham part of this road (beyond Varndean Road) was laid out first and the connecting part which was in Preston (from Preston Drove to Varndean Road) was not constructed until 1894, under an arrangement between the Corporation and the Trustees of the Curwen Estate.
