GREAT COLLEGE STREET

Looking westwards from Abbey Road to College Place. Again a photograph of around the First World War period. This compact short street is much older than probably most people realise. Building commenced at the west end in the late 1850s and the street was almost completed by 1868. The outstanding building was that on the extreme right below. This was Fair Lee Villa owned and occupied by Councillor Henry Abbey.
