ST ANNE’S CHURCH

This church was built in Burlington Street by the well-known Brighton builders, Cheeseman & Co. in 1862, the foundation stone being laid by the Vicar of Brighton on 16 June of that year.
A falling congregation caused problems in recent years, and the Church closed in 1983 following the amalgamation of the parish with that of the neighbourhood St George. Demolition of the Church commenced in February 1986, and the cleared site is likely to be used for the building of flats for the elderly. Date of photographs March 25 1984.
