CINEMAS IN KEMP TOWN – THE ODEON

Opened on 1 February 1934, at the corner of St George’s Road and Paston Place, it was badly bombed during the 1939/1945 War. With the post-war decline in cinema going it was changed to a Bingo Hall and Social Club, and then became the City Social Centre before being demolished in January 1987, and replaced by flats. Photographed 19 May 1985.
