WHITEHAWK - THE EARLY BUILDINGS

Two photographs of 1937 showing St Cuthman’s Church in Lintott Avenue nearly completed. It was destroyed by a bomb in 1943 and not rebuilt until 1952. The happy children playing would almost suggest a posed photograph. Note the playing fields of Whitehawk Bottom and the footpaths leading up to the Race Hill.
