MOUNT PLEASANT

Old Mount Pleasant, another slum whose name belied its appearance. Here is shown the East side dropping from Carlton Hill to Edward Street. The very narrow Park Place which stood just to the East was cleared at the same time, and the present Mount Pleasant, consisting only of 13 trim Council houses was erected in 1938 on the cleared area of these two streets.
