OLD HOUSES IN EDWARD STREET

28 and 29, Edward Street at the corner of Riding School Lane. The corner house was or many years a public house known as the Painters Arms. Riding School Lane was best known for its slaughter houses to which droves of sheep and cattle were driven up Edward Street in the olden days.
Photographed in 1942 and demolished January, 1946.
