A PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE CENTRAL VALLEY

Easily identifiable are the Lewes Viaduct, Diocesan Training College (1854), the Level, Park Crescent, Ditchling and Upper Lewes Roads, but where stood the photographer? One can only guess. I think he was on open ground someway up Southover Street and that the houses being built (left) were in Newhaven Street or Lewes Street. The Field between the two flint walls may well have been the site of the present Grove Street.
