KINGS ROAD

A present day copy of a very old photograph, dating from the 1860s, or even earlier. Looking east, note that there are no protective kerbside railings and that adjoining Brill’s Baths, the balcony and verandah are still there. Also, in the central distance, the windows of George’s White Horse Hotel are seen. On the original photograph, which is much clearer, the baths are designated – BRILL’S, KINGS ROAD, BATHS – a description which is rarely found.
