SURREY STREET – BLACK LION INN

Built about 1840, this Inn was to be found at the corner of Surrey Street and Gloucester Road. The postal address was 77 Gloucester Road. To the right is the side and rear of 54 Queens Road, part of Alexandra Hotel. The Inn was demolished in 1920 when this corner was rounded off to facilitate the passage of motor buses from Surrey Street into Queens Road.
