QUEENS ROAD

From then on multiple occupancy took its toll. There were many tenants in the numerous rooms, while upstairs sections were converted into residential flats. On the top floor one large room became a ballroom dance studio, with its spacious east window giving a splendid view over the houses of Brighton as far as the Racecourse. As the building deteriorated future became uncertain so I had these photographs taken on 3 August 1975. Thinking that demolition was imminent. However, the building then affectionately known as “TheTemple” lingered on, empty, until late 1988 when it finally hit the dust.
