SCENES ON THE OUTSKIRTS

I cannot pretend to know where the two photographs above were taken though the photographer places them as “on the Downs north of Hove” which could be anywhere. Fortunately he dated them exactly. 28 June 1892 at 1p.m. Sheep we can still see occasionally on the Downs but never again shall we see oxen ploughing.
