WESTDEAN ESTATE

This was the last of the large private developments in metropolitan Brighton. It had been started in the 1930s but was stopped short of the war and was not restarted until the mid 1950s. These are photographs of the area where Eldred Avenue joins Windmill Drive. Date 5 March 1961. Some of the houses later built here were almost on top of the Patcham railway tunnel.
