MARINE PARADE

Two present day copies of two very old photos. Looking west, the focal point of the photograph is the Royal Crescent Hotel, until 1857 a private mansion. Henry Hilliar was the first Proprietor of the newly opened hotel, and was there for many years. In his time, in 1872, the building was reconstructed in its present form.
The original picture probably dates from the 1860s.
