MARINE SQUARE

Another photograph, dating from the 1870 period. Building of this square started about 1825 on land owned by Thomas Attree, a well-known local solicitor, who was vestry clerk. He retained the garden enclosure, which was ultimately taken over by the Corporation, in 1884 for £25.
