WEST BATTERY, KINGS ROAD. c.1865-70

This photograph from the West Pier, shows the same area as the previous photograph just a few years afterwards. The exact year is unknown but almost certainly it was between 1865 & 1870. It is one of the few photographs that exist which shows the promenade westwards from Cannon Place before it was railed and the gravel bank removed. At the extreme right can be seen the flagstaff marking the site of the old Battery.
