JUNCTION OF UPPER LEWES ROAD AND DITCHLING ROAD

The above photograph of a tram descending Ditchling Road in the late 1930s shows this high wall which ran round from Upper Lewes Road into Ditchling Road, but note that it is much lower than it was. This lowering was done in March 1928, and at the same time the corner was rounded off to provide better vision of traffic.
