ST MICHAELS CHURCH

This photograph is of an even earlier period than that on the previous page. It is from the corner of a very dirty Montpelier road, with, on the left, the large mansion, 1 Denmark Terrace, built in 1862. It looks as if the foundations were being dug for the first houses in St Michael’s Place, which were built in 1867, so it is a fairly safe deduction to say that this photograph dates from 1866.
