SCENES BEHIND KINGS ROAD

Two of the old muzzle-loaded guns from the sea front battery, stored behind the Battery House, left background. This was 99 Kings Road, removed in 1862 before the erection of the Grand Hotel. These may have been the two spare guns, for there were eight originally mounted but only six when the battery was removed in 1858 so that Kings Road could be widened.
