Boys playing cricket on the open ground adjoining Westfield Cottage (see previous page). The low sidewall and drainpipe appear in both photographs and the open space is clearly seen in the Ordnance Survey map.
The dates of the original photographs can now only be guessed at but I suggest about 1855 for the Battery one (previous), and 1860 for the other.
