WOODINGDEAN

Here are two photographs taken early in the 1920s – one scene is little changed 40 years afterwards, while the other has been transformed. This view is looking North from a position just west of Falmer Road. This was the chicken farm of Mr Drake, the house Woodingcote being built soon after the end of the 1914-18 War. The area is much the same today except that the house and the tree have matured.
